Provence AOP olive oil from French wine and olive producer Chateau Virant has been awarded a gold medal in the Concours Général Agricole 2020 competition. This medium-strong extra virgin olive oil is made from a mixture of five varieties and pressed immediately after collection in the farm's own press and bottling plant.
The oil can be used to taste green aromas such as grass, green tomato and almond. This multifaceted, balanced and full-bodied oil has a long mouthfeel, and the light pepperiness makes the oil medium to strong. It is ideal for use as such for salads, fish and meat, as well as for cooking.
Oro del Desierto's 1/10th virgin olive oil from Spain is a special batch produced by the manufacturer, with only 8 000 bottles produced. It is a special early harvest oil, the name of which bears the numbers typical of early harvest oils.
First of all, olives are the first (1) to be pressed for the first oils of the harvest. The olives are harvested in October (10), when most of the olives are still green. Secondly, 10 kilos of fresh olives (1/10) are needed to make 1 litre of this premium olive oil.
1/10 olive oil is fresh, unfiltered olive oil that is available to gourmets within a few months of pressing. As the oil matures in its bottle, it becomes similar to the manufacturer's other oils, allowing it to be used as other oils.
1/10 oil should only be used at room temperature, for example to finish dishes and salads or to dip with bread. Its early harvest properties will keep for 6-8 months, but the oil can still be used 18-24 months after preparation.
