Handmade by Barre Clandestine in France, Kilombero chocolate is made exclusively from cocoa grown in Kilombero, Tanzania. Trinitario and Néo-Nacional cocoa bushes are allowed to grow among banana trees and wild plants as part of a biodiversity that benefits many primate species and elephants in the region.

Only two ingredients are used in chocolate: cocoa and cane sugar. No cocoa butter or lectin has been added to the chocolate.

The high quality is proven by the bronze medal at the 2023 European chocolate Awards.

Barre Clandestine is a chocolate house founded in 2022 that always selects its cocoa beans based on taste. The chocolatiers aim to bring out the complex flavours of cocoa in their chocolates, which are made according to carefully crafted recipes.

Cocoa does not have just one flavour, but its aromas vary according to the different conditions, just like grapes in wine. Barre Clandestine tries to bring out unusual aromas and flavour pairings in its recipes by combining cocoa with different ingredients such as fruits and nuts.

All the cocoa used in our chocolates is organically grown and responsibly produced. Barre Clandestine pays six times more than the market price for the cocoa it buys.
